I was on here half hour ago and was asking about if Kidney Disease and Kidney Problems Naturally occur in some breeds of cats. Which they claim it does!
If you are afraid your cat could develp kidney prob. in the future why not try to wart if off early by feeding it a diet for kidney problems. I do not understand this. ???
Why would this be such a bad idea? I would just be trying to help the future health of my cat.
Yes, raw is high in Protein naturally, correct.
There are by the way- Kidney diets out there, I do Not know if they are raw diets thou. ???
Bad Idea then??? I’m Realllllly Confused.

For a venerable cat, he’s doing pretty well. He’s missing quite a few teeth, and has pretty much lost most of his hearing. Hey, he’s OLD…whaddya expect? He is hyper-thyroid but consistently medicated for the condition. He also gets food additives to help with his urination and to maintain comfort against arthritic-type pains.
We know he has seperation issues. We got him “second hand” and he was already well into his adult life.
We take exceptional care of him, we give him as much attention as he’ll take when we’re around (both of us work days). He gets fed plenty. We let him outside every day multiple times a day.
But when he notices us, say he walks into the room, he’ll immediately start in meowing. It ranges from simple meows to all out yowling until we pick him up and cuddle him and rub his tummy.
Is this just an attention thing? Boredom? I suspect he might be very insecure about his hearing loss, yet it doesn’t seem to keep him from exploring when he goes outside.
Any ideas?

I have a cat who is about 15 years old. For the past few months, she’s starting to go to the bathroom on random places on the floor and throwing up nearly everything she eats. Is this because of old age? Should we get her put to sleep or just take her to the vet to see if something else is wrong?

What are the health risks of wearing cat flea collars on ankles?

I sometimes work in the crawl spaces under houses where ferrel cats live, This means lots of jumping biting black pepper -better known as sand fleas(cat fleas)! A lot of the other guys that do my same job wear a cat flea collars around each ankle. Can this lead to any health problems if worn for extended lengths of time? I know some of the solders in Iraq and Afghanistan do the same thing.

I take my cats for their “annual” wellness visit, and while they’re there, I ask my vet to update any shots that need updating.. but I don’t really understand what the shots are, what each one is for, and how long each shot is supposed to last.

Also regarding shots: when is it necessary for cats to have “booster” shots (a second round of shots- a few weeks after the first)? I thought that was just for kittens.

Other things I’m wanting to be certain that I am doing right for my cats (please correct if I’m wrong/ suggest the best brands, etc):

Best way to worm indoor cats

Flea maintenance (they get a monthly mild-soap bath, monthly flea medication (& flea spray on the other weeks), I vaccuum a lot.

I brush their teeth monthly w/ cat toothpaste (is this necessary? Or should I even do it weekly like the tube says?).

They get purified water & they’re on diet Iams, but I want to switch to a raw meat diet like “Bravo.”

Anything else? Any *kind* info will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I noticed that my cat had bare patches with no fur. My dad said we didn’t need to takke her to the vet, he said it could be the food she’s eating. Cause she has been eating dog food lately(but there is cat food right in front of her!!!) And some dog food makes dogs coats, fuller shinier, maybe it has the opposite effect on cats. Tell me what you think.

so my cat is a normal tabby cat..nine years old now..but hes always been a big cat ever since we got him and has always had flab hanging from his belly. hes always seemed like a healthy cat until a few years ago he got a urinary tract infection that he got terribly sick from, nearly death..but i tried very hard to nurse him back to health by force feeding him to get him to gain an appetite back…then he finally got better and better and after all that he got back to being just like he always was, acted just as young…and gained most of his weight back. now a few years later hes just as great only lately hes been sleeping in unusual places and acting a little different..like trying to eat my food (?) and things like that. Hes 9 now. im just wondering how long hes going to live because hes one of my favorite things in the world and im very scared to lose him.
anyone know the average cat life span to a cat similar to mine?

sorry for the long description..i just want to know more about my cats health.
could it be the season change? doesnt the weather minorly change the moods and way pets act?

My cat Molly had her babies several weeks ago,
And she is less then a year old, specifically born in October with her brother Tyrone back in october 2008. Are there any health concerns that may affect Molly with her feeding the kittens? (There were seven, but one died.) And, the brother Tyrone (who our family believes had the kids with Molly) He hasn’t been home as often as he has been before. Why would this happen?
