She is not his mother nor has she ever had kittens (she thinks she is his mom though). The kitten was 9 weeks when we got him and he started nursing from her a few weeks later. I thought it would stop relatively quickly since he was getting way too old to nurse but he is about 4 months now and she is still letting him nurse. Of course, we all try to practice good hygiene, but there are always times when my cat reaches out and licks my lips unexpectedly just after he’s been licking his butt, or when I’m not sure if he’s eaten something off my dinner plate when I had my back turned.
How worried and how careful should we be?
