May sound gross but, is inhaling the smell of litter and cat poop bad for your health?

I see a lot of strays near my house because I live in the city….. I am concerned because I love animals and I hate to see them suffer in heat all day long! I have one indoor cat myself, and I put food and water on my porch for the strays, but I need to know this because if their health is at risk I will call animal control to pick them up. My five-year-old is a huge animal lover, so when he came across a street cat he was more than happy to carry it around and play with it for a while. I found out about it only as he tried to sneak it into his bedroom. He has seen this cat again and insists on playing with it. Well, now I, overreacting parent that I am, wonder what the chances are of him getting sick from this cat. Also, needless to say, he now wants us to own a cat (we already own a dog), but I’m not at all familiar with the hygiene issues involved. Could this cat make him sick? Is a cat a convenient (health-wise) pet for a kid?

I’m eighteen living in a lonely apartment by myself and going to college. The apartment is rather small with three rooms. Would a cat be happy here? He would mostly be inside coped up while i’m in class 4-6 hours a day. I very frequently visit my parents and plan on taking him back and forth which is around a 30 minute drive both ways. I would just hate to get one and find out he’s not happy. Any idea what breed to go with for this situation?

Wheezing, Staggering, drooling/foaming at the mouth, almost as if shes trying to bring something up. Checked throat but nothing is there.
