Ok cat lovers has your cat tried Purina One? Did you notice a difference in health?
Nevada Pokerqueen asked:
I put my 8 month old kitten on Purina One. I noticed immediate differences in hair, and eyes and energy. She was bouncing off the walls and her hair was wiry and eyes bright. It must be full of vitamins. Anyone try it? Notice any changes?

The canned variety avoid cheaper brands as they tend to be full of dust in good health just dont buy dry foods with lot of dust in good health just dont buy the canned variety.

I feed Chicken Soup for the Cat lower’s Soul. It is a very high quality kibble with the first 3 ingredients being real meat. Cats are obligate carnivores, they derive all of their nutrition from meat. Corn, grains, rice, as well as all the other additives in most cat foods serve no purpose to the cat’s body. Carbs etc. are stored as fat because they cannot be fully processed. That’s why most indoor cats are obese: Bad food and lack of exercise.
The way to judge the quality of cat food is to check the ingredients. You want 2-3 of the first 5 to be meat. NO meat by-products or bone meal, etc. Meat. Chicken, beef, pork, fish, lamb, duck, things of that nature.
Good luck!

Ingredient in Purina One: 34% protein, $1.72 per lb. Poultry by-products (that’s heads, feet, entrails, feathers of chickens and turkeys), whole grain corn, brewer’s rice (that is rice used to make beer which has all the nutrition removed.)
Compare with Natural Balance: 34% protein, $1.66 per lb. Chicken meal, brown rice (which has the nutritious bran), duck, lamb meal.
So the NB has the higher quality protein and more of it, plus the brown rice which is better (less fattening) than corn.
Solid Gold Katzen Flocken: $1.50 per lb. Lamb, chicken meal, millet, brown rice, fish meal.
Eagle Pack (Holistic Select) 32% protein. Duck meal, brown rice, chicken. I don’t have a price per lb on that.

I have one cat that will only eat Purina One and I have noticed a slight weight gain which she needed as she still looks like a 6mo old kitten, but she is really 7 years old. Her haircoat is definately better than it was prior to the new food. I chose this product, as she would not eat Wellness, Natural Balance, Science Diet or many other foods, and she is just a dry food eater.
